View more articles published by Tasmanian Greens WHERE IS $1 MILLION JORDAN RIVER RAIL BRIDGE?
The Tasmanian Greens today revealed that work on the urgently needed replacement of the Jordan River Rail Bridge, which is critical for the upgrading of the State’s rail infrastructure, has barely begun despite the awarded tender stating that the period of the contract closes on the 16th of July this year. Greens Shadow Infrastructure spokesperson Tim Morris MP said that the tender for the rebuilding of the bridge is worth $1, 092, 549, that it was awarded in February this year, scheduled to be completed in less than four weeks, but incredibly when asked about the building schedule for the bridge the Infrastructure Minister appeared completely unaware of the current situation. Mr Morris also presented to the Parliament photographs taken this morning, which demonstrate that despite the looming reconstruction deadline, the only evidence of work on site are surveyor pegs and blue circles painted on the ground. “The Minister, Graeme Sturges, could not provide any detail when I questioned today about what is going on with this 1 million dollar plus tender to replace the existing Jordan River Rail Bridge on a new alignment, that is meant to be completed by the 16th of July this year, but on site ...

Aldi, the supermarket chain, is introducing national pricing. This is a bold move in the supermarket space. But it makes sense. Lower ad costs, consistency etc. I’ve been surveying newsagents recently and the difference in pricing across 4,600 newsagencies for basic items like A4 pads, envelopes, staples etc is considerable. Even among marketing groups, for [...]

KEY POINTS * Induced polarisation (IP) surveying of the A2 Anomaly in the Croydon Zinc Project area has detected the known (drill intersected) sulphide mineralisation under 120m of sediment cover. This demonstrates that the IP survey technique is effective in detecting sulphide mineralisation beneath the sedimentary cover, significantly reducing the ongoing exploration costs while maintaining result confidence. * The IP results also indicate that the sulphide mineralisation extends further to the east of the area currently drilled.

The half year financials of Allco Finance Group now won't be published today but rather on Monday. The delay presumably is to give the structured finance group's principals, financiers and advisers time to negotiate terms on the sale of some (but probably not all) of the business, to sell some assets, to refinance some debts, or just to buy time to negotiate some or all of these options over time.
