27 November 2008 - Vulnerable Witnesses Better Protected by Evidence Reforms

Attorney-General Robert McClelland today welcomed the passage through the Parliament of the Evidence Amendment Bill 2008. The Bill includes a number of amendments to improve the overall workability of the uniform evidence laws, following a joint review of the laws by the Australian, New South Wales and Victorian Law Reform Commissions. The Evidence Amendment Bill, which is based on a model Uniform Evidence Bill, also marks another significant step towards the harmonisation of evidence laws throughout Australia..
